Application-specific housings
Probe designs can be tailored for surface contact, fluid immersion, airflow monitoring, or installation through ports and fittings.
Products
A temperature probe housing should both protect the sensor from environmental conditions and optimize the sensor's performance.
Probe designs can be tailored for surface contact, fluid immersion, airflow monitoring, or installation through ports and fittings.
Probe design balances ruggedness, environmental isolation, thermal contact, response time, and total installed cost.
North Star Sensors offers micro, mini, surface, closed-end, ring terminal, threaded, hex head, and airflow-oriented probe options.
A temperature probe housing is designed to both protect the sensor from environmental conditions as well to optimize the sensor’s performance. To be properly designed, a temperature probe not only performs well and is rugged enough for its environment, but ultimately, it must also be cost-effective.
Typical environmental conditions that should be considered when designing a temperature probe are electrical isolation, humidity, the type of medium being measured, temperature cycling, vibration or shock, exposure to harsh chemicals, and minimum / maximum temperature exposures.
Performance objectives such as temperature measurement tolerances as well as desired response times are also important.
Our North Star Sensors team is ready to help you “navigate” the design path to finding that optimal temperature solution. We are ready to work with you at the beginning of your design program as well as review your finished specification. With our years of experience in designing, manufacturing, and testing probe assemblies, we can help you reduce costs and field failures by assembling your temperature probes for you.
Micro and mini probes can fit inside small spaces and have phenomenal time response while still providing excellent environmental protection.
Typical Applications
Surface probes are a strong fit for monitoring many different surfaces and can be installed temporarily or permanently using a range of mounting methods.
Typical Applications
The closed end probe series is a general classification for temperature sensors mounted inside a housing for environmental and mechanical protection.
Typical Applications
Ring terminal probes are quick and easy to mount with screws onto many different parts across a wide range of equipment.
Typical Applications
For internal temperature measurement in a container, a threaded probe helps protect the sensor while maintaining excellent thermal contact with the fluid inside.
Typical Applications
Screw ports can be built into equipment for easy installation of hex head probes that are highly thermally coupled to the desired measurement location.
Typical Applications
For air temperature monitoring, specialty probe designs can protect a fast time response sensor while still maintaining good contact with the surrounding air.
